As Marriott’s International Lodging business grew rapidly around the globe, the complex management structure, overlapping roles and cumbersome decision making processes became a widespread concern. Kensington assessed the situation and recommended against the need for reorganization, instead creating a methodolgy for Marriott’s leaders to clearly define how the matrix organization would operate across functions, countries and regions. For more than a dozen years, the business grew without the need for reorganization. Organization alignment proved to be an effective process for enabling Marriott’s global business to function cohesively.

Orlando/Orange County Convention & Visitors Bureau engaged Kensington to guide a strategic planning process shortly after hiring a new CEO. Focused on unifying the board (Disney, Universal, Sea World, Marriott, etc.) around a common vision and set of objectives for the destination, the result was a unified focus that propelled Orlando through successful marketing campaign that helped increase visitation.
Tourism is a leading industry in Arizona, yet is fragmented among many diverse federal, state and business interests. The state’s Director of Tourism embarked on a unique initiative to link public and private stakeholders in a shared organization to strengthen the industry. Kensington played a central role in the creation of a new entity that went on to lead the state’s tourism efforts.

A merger created a publically traded $4 Billion hospitality company affiliated with the French company Sodexho. Kensington supported the first year’s post merger integration efforts, helping accelerate the process of combining an organization with more than 100,000 employees while maintaining focus on achieving promised improvements in business results across market segments.
